Many governorship aspirants in Niger is beauty of democracy – Lawmaker

Rep. Umar Bago (APC-Chanchaga) in Niger says the entry of many aspirants into the governorship race in the state is the beauty of democracy.

Bago is one of the governorship aspirants in the state on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He spoke with newsmen in Minna on Wednesday after he met with members of the Niger House of Assembly to solicit their support for his aspiration.

“The higher the number of aspirants for the governorship position, the merrier.

“When we have many people contesting for the position, you draw from other peoples’ strengths and build on them,’’ he said.

He explained that he solicited the support of Niger lawmakers so that one of their own could become the governor.

Bago expressed optimism that he would get the governorship ticket of the party having his colleagues and other APC delegates behind him,

He stressed that he remained the best governorship candidate being a statesman and founding member of the APC in the state.

Forty-eight-year-old Bago described himself as a young person who had spent his life around the state and knew its challenges.

He noted that as a three-time federal lawmaker, his stewardship of several years helped him to understand the importance of capital development.
