The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some aggrieved parties have so far filed 25 petitions before the Lagos State National and State House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal.The petitions were pasted on the wall of the Rosaline Omotosho Courthouse Ikeja, venue of the tribunal sitting.In one of the petitions, the candidates of the Labour Party for Federal House of Assembly in about seven constituency in Lagos are challenging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), All Progressive Congress (APC) and the declared winner of each constituency.The candidates in their various constituency are challenging the winner of Oshodi Isolo, Kosofe , Lagos Mainland, Surulere, Shomolu, Mushin and Ikorodu.In their petitions filed by their counsel, Wakeel Olawale-Liady, the petitioners are challenging the INEC for non- compliance with the provision of Electoral Act 2022.They alleged that INEC unlawfully excluded them from the election held on February 25 for the National Assembly, House of Representatives.However, in the petition filed by Mr Adeola Adebanjo and the Labour Party against the Speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajaabiamila, the petitioner alleged that INEC failed to comply with the provisions of the law.For Ikeja Federal Constituency, Mutiu  Okunola and his party (LP) are challenging the declaration of James Faleke as winner of the election on the grounds that the election was invalid for non-compliance with the provision of the Act.He prayed the court for a declaration that the election conducted by INEC in respect of the constituency seat held on Feb. 25, was marred by substantial irregularities and non-compliance with the provision of the Electoral Act and guidelines.He also prayed the court to nullify the election and order a fresh one.

Western Nigeria Security Network which is codenamed Amotekun in Osun State has made a huge arrest.They arrested a 37-year-old hoodlum who has been unleashing terror on residents.The suspect is accused of making life uncomfortable for the people of Ikoyi-Ile Town in Isokan Local Government Area.Osun Amotekun Corps Commander, Retired Brig.-Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi said he was arrested on Wednesday following multiple complaints.The attacker mostly operate alone and routinely target residents of the town with cutlass and charms, Adewinmbi disclosed.During interrogation, he admitted to acting in an unruly manner and causing unrest in the community. He pleaded for forgiveness.The suspect has been handed over to the police command in Osun for further investigation and possible prosecution.Urging residents to be vigilant, Adewinmbi stated that the law would take its full course on anyone caught perpetrating violence.The retired General lauded residents for offering information to Amotekun, saying their assistance had helped to curb crimes and arrest criminals.

Ikechukwu Ogbonna, a 37- year -old auto dealer, who is also known as IVD, has been dragged to court.IVD was on Monday arraigned before a Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja over the alleged manslaughter of his late wife Abimbola, who died in a fire incident at their residence in the Lekki area of the state.The defendant was arraigned on one count of involuntary manslaughter in suit No LD/21055C/23 preferred against him by the Lagos State Government.The prosecuting counsel, Adeshola Bello, told the court that there was a mix-up in the date the alleged offence was committed.“We have on record October 10 but the date was October 12,” Bello said.He urged the court to grant the prosecution permission to enable them to make an amendment, which the court granted.Bello said the alleged offence committed contravened Section 229 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.However, Ogbonna who was arraigned before Modupe Nicole-Clay pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.The defence counsel, Mr Victor Ogunde, SAN, sought bail for the defendant.While seeking bail for the defendant, the judge asked why he was bringing a bail application despite the fact that the defendant was on bail since March 1.The defence counsel replied that the suit against his client was with a different charge number.Consequently, Justice Nicole-Clay adjourned the case till March 30, May 24 and 25, 2023, for the commencement of trial.Recall that the media went agog when the news of Abimbola’s passing on October 12, 2022, became public knowledge.
