The Government of Kogi State has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, describing his passing as a monumental loss to the nation, Africa, and the global community.

Kogi State, the Kogi State Government, led by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, mourned the death of the elder statesman and celebrated his life of service, integrity, and sacrifice.
Governor Ododo described Buhari’s death as “a moment of national grief and a reminder of the enduring legacy of discipline, integrity, and sacrifice that President Buhari stood for.”
He emphasized that the late President served Nigeria at various critical junctures with courage and responsibility, noting that “he was not a man of many words, but one whose actions consistently reflected his belief in a better, safer, and more self-reliant Nigeria.”
The Governor said Kogi State will always remember President Buhari for his contributions to critical infrastructure, national security, and anti-corruption efforts. He credited the former president’s vision and policies as the foundation upon which current governance structures continue to build.
The state also expressed solidarity with the Government and people of Katsina State, the family of the deceased, and all Nigerians, as the nation mourns the loss of one of its most impactful leaders.
“May Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannah Firdaus,” the statement concluded.
