Kogi State Polytechnic has launched an investigation into nine individuals over alleged certificate fraud and document falsification. Rector of the institution, Prof. Salisu Ogbo, revealed during a press conference in Lokoja that five staff members have been suspended, while four students are in custody over their roles in the forgery scheme.
According to Ogbo, the syndicate, made up of students, non-students, and dishonest staff, manipulated academic records and forged National Diploma (ND) certificates, some of which were used to seek admission into the institution’s Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes. He disclosed that 30 forged certificates had already been uncovered through intelligence reports and internal verification.
The rector condemned the act as a direct attack on the integrity of the institution, assuring that all perpetrators would face strict disciplinary and legal action. He reaffirmed the Polytechnic’s commitment to upholding transparency, quality assurance, and the protection of its academic reputation.
