A Magistrate Court sitting in Kogi State has, today discharged two humnan rights activists, who were being prosecuted by the state for pasting posters of ‘Buhari must Go’ in April 2021.
Magistrate Tanko Muhammed dismissed the suit against Amini Udoka and Emmanuel Larry, with case No: CMCL/123m/2021 after suffering series of adjournment.
According to report, the state Commissioner of Police, Ayuba Edeh, said the two persons were arrested on April 5, 2021, for allegedly embarking on a smear campaign against the President Muhammadu Buhari in Lokoja, the state capital.
Speaking to newsmen, one of the accused, Udoka, noted that this is the first phase of the victory, and will be filing a fundamental human rights abuse suit.
He noted that they had suffered serious psychological effects of the case, adding that he was also having some health challenges due to the arrest.
