The female students who were abducted on November 17 , 2025 from the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) Maga, in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, after troops were withdrawn on Tuesday regained their freedom following days of negotiations .
The Federal Government felt a sign of relief and it appears adopted non-kinetic approach like it did in Kwara church kidnap but the term of both negotiations remains unknown to the public.
The released of Kebbi State Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) Maga, students from their captives was facilitated through coordinated efforts by officials from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and the Department of State Services (DSS).
The use of a non-kinetic approach, which typically involves dialogue, negotiation, and confidence-building measures and in some cases ransom rather than military force has a deep implications, even as it underscores the government’s shift toward resolving mass abduction crises through peaceful means.
The abduction of the students, which followed similar incidents in the region, had drawn widespread national concern and prompted a decisive operational order from the Chief of Army Staff for troops to intensify search-and-rescue efforts. Their successful release is a major relief for the affected families and the community.
