Nigerian investigative journalist Kemi Olunloyo has stirred controversy after accusing Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo of sharing AI-generated photos to announce the birth of her first grandson.
On Sunday, Iyabo celebrated the arrival of her daughter Priscilla Ojo’s baby boy, posting pictures of herself, Priscilla, and the infant — a moment that was warmly embraced by fans and celebrities across the entertainment industry.
However, Olunloyo, in a series of Facebook posts, alleged that the images were fabricated. She further claimed that Priscilla and her partner, Tanzanian singer Juma Jux, had their child through IVF, which was implanted in a surrogate. According to her, the actual birth did not occur in Canada, as speculated, but possibly in Tanzania — though she admitted uncertainty over the details.
The journalist went on to make a controversial link between the joyous news and the tragic death of singer Mohbad, insisting that anyone celebrating Iyabo’s grandson was “also celebrating tragedy.” The remarks sparked heated backlash online, with many accusing Olunloyo of insensitivity and misinformation.
