Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has directed the immediate refund of all deductions made from teachers’ September salaries. The directive comes amid growing concerns over irregular salary cuts that sparked agitation among education workers in the state.
The State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Murtala Usman, confirmed the development while briefing journalists in Birnin Kebbi. He explained that the governor’s swift intervention followed complaints lodged by affected teachers, ensuring their earnings are fully restored.
Usman commended the governor’s decision, describing it as a demonstration of commitment to workers’ welfare. He urged civil servants in the state to remain dedicated to their duties, assuring them that the NLC would continue to defend their rights and interests.
