It’s My Calling To Help Young Artists – Don Jazzy

Michael Collins Ajereh aka Don Jazzy has revealed his calling in life. According to the renowned Nigerian music executive and talent developer, it is his destiny to help young artists. He disclosed this in a podcast interview with Fisayo Fosudo. Don Jazzy said, “My priorities have changed over the years. I basically started as a musician but along the line, I started doing different things. Finding, growing young artists into global superstars and things like that.“But then I wouldn’t want to restrict it to that at the moment. At the moment, I feel like I’m just building the [Nigerian music] ecosystem in general. Leveraging on the huge brand that I had built to just impact people’s lives.“I feel like it’s my calling to help people grow. I have a strong conviction that I know how to work with people.“In our early stage when we started [as musicians], we were kind of lost for a while before we got our balance. So, if I see young artists now, I’m like, ‘if this person doesn’t have like guidance before they get to a certain level, they might just be lost as well. It would be nice if we could speed up the process. It would be nice if somebody that has been down the road before… You know where the potholes dey dey, you can just tell the person say, I don pass this road before. Avoid this road, follow here.’“Follow who know road, follow who know road.’ If the person that has gone there before and knows the road, doe not want to show somebody the road, you can not be following for no reason. So, I feel like anybody that has any update about how to survive, should share the update.”

Ex-wife asked me to choose between her and Mohbad – Late singer’s father

Joseph Aloba, the father of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad, has said his ex-wife, who happens to be Mohbad’s first stepmom, once asked him to choose between Mohbad and her.

Aloba said this while clarifying Mohbad’s lyric in the song, “Sorry”.

Aloba, while shedding more light on the lyrics, disclosed that his relationship with her was complicated.

He stated that his decision to choose Mohbad over her led to her packing out from the family.

“The stepmother told me one day, ‘Choose me or your son.’ I chose my son (Mohbad) and she packed her loads and left. I and the lady were together for more than seven years. I married her around 2005. That stepmother did not want me to send Mohbad to school, and I chose my son. And she decided to leave,” Aloba said while speaking exclusively with Saturday PUNCH.

Mohbad died at the age of 27, on September 12 and was buried the next day.

Circumstances leading to his death have yet to be unraveled. However, the Lagos State Police Command has begun an investigation into the case.

Veteran Nollywood actor Oluyemi Lawrence Adeyemi popularly known as Suara, is dead.

The actor, according to a statement signed by his son, Adedotun Adeyemi, died on Sunday, September 24.

“It is with a heavy heart but with total submission to God that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, Oluyemi Lawrence Adeyemi (Suara), who went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 24, 2023.

“We are consoled because we know that he has gone to rest. We kindly request that the family be allowed some privacy in this time of grief. More details about the burial will be communicated soon.”

Adeyemi rose to fame with his role in the 2001 Wale Adenuga hit series, ‘Super Story.’
