Is Lukaku Already Considering Retirement?

Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku has hinted that the 2026 FIFA World Cup could mark the end of his international career but he’s not ruling anything out just yet.

“There’s a chance the 2026 World Cup will be my last, yes,” Lukaku admitted.

However, the prolific forward quickly added a note of optimism:

“But… there’s still EURO 2028, which is just around the corner. If things go well at the World Cup, you never know.”

At 31, Lukaku remains Belgium’s all-time top scorer and a key figure in the national team setup. While retirement may be on the horizon, his words suggest he’s keeping the door open for at least one more major tournament depending on form, fitness, and Belgium’s fortunes on the global stage.
