In a decisive operation, Nigerian Army troops from the 6 Brigade, operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, successfully neutralized two suspected bandits and recovered approximately 1,000 rustled cattle in Taraba State.
The operation was conducted in collaboration with personnel from Operation Safe Haven. According to a statement released by Captain Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 6 Brigade, the troops responded promptly to an incursion by over 30 armed bandits on motorcycles who had crossed into Taraba from Plateau State.
The bandits targeted a Fulani settlement near Jebjeb village in Karim Lamido Local Government Area, rustling cattle and fleeing across the river boundary into Daji Madam Forest in Plateau State. The combined forces advanced to Komodoro village, where they engaged the bandits in a fierce firefight, resulting in the neutralization of two bandits and the recovery of the stolen cattle.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, commended the troops for their swift and effective response, emphasizing the military’s commitment to maintaining pressure on criminal elements and ensuring the safety and security of communities in the region.
The recovered cattle have been moved to Jebjeb for identification and return to their rightful owners.
