The Adamawa state Returning Agent of the All Progressive Congress (APC) at the April 16, Adamawa state supplementary governorship election, Mustapha Umar Madawaki has alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC), is working round the clock to prevent former REC, Hudu Ari from testifying before the State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.
Madawaki at a press conference in Abuja on Saturday also alleges the former inspector general of police doctored the investigative report on the election against Hubu Ari and commissioner of police M.A. Barde to quickly arrest and incarcerate them.
The state APC returning agent stated that in the build-up to the (APC ) Adamawa Guber primaries, some Abuja-based political elites from the APC have ganged up against the candidature of Senator Dahiru Binani in favour of their preferred candidate.
According to him, the APC bigwigs with connections to Aso Rock and National Headquarters of the APC, who also enjoy the support and participation of powerful APC members plotted against Binani, but were successfully resisted by party members who believe in democratic party leading Binani emergence as APC flag bearer.
“Feeling humiliated by the freely expressed will of the members of the APC, this cabal resorted to the courts. Senator Aishatu Dahiru Binani, being a law-abiding citizen and a democrat to the core, followed the judicial processes to the end and was successful at the Appeal Court, and got her mandate back.”
He said the plotters who want to stop her shifted gears by secretly aligning with the governorship candidate of PDP and resorting to a well-oiled campaign of calumny and intimidation aimed at frustrating the efforts of Binani.
Madawaki claimed that the plotters were five influencer Adamawa State politicians based in Abuja.They are behind the ongoing attempts by INEC to frustrate efforts of Senate Aisha Dahiru Binani to reclaim her victory, he said.
He said that two INEC national commissioners sent to Adamawa for the conduct of supplementary governorship election were deliberate to deprive the APC of victory.
The agent said he bluntly confronted them and accused them of being biased after they visited the government house and we’re received by the agent of the governor.Both were dumbfounded and said nothing.
According to him, security personnel and PDP officials made stringent efforts to prevent the Residents Electoral Commissioner access to the collation centre while INEC officials were manipulating the authentic result of Fufore in favour of PDP.
