The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has expressed concern over the low turnout of registrants in Gombe State during the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise. Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr. Sa’ad Idris, revealed that Gombe is lagging far behind states like Osun and Yobe, which have each recorded over 30,000 applications.
He urged stakeholders to intensify awareness campaigns, encouraging citizens to take advantage of both the online platform and designated centers.
INEC announced that it will soon launch a sensitisation campaign across the state, including radio jingles and media outreach, to boost participation.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders pledged to work closely with INEC to ensure more eligible citizens in Gombe register and collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of future elections.
