INEC Confirms Over 2.5 Million Nigerians Complete Online Voter Pre-Registration in Two Weeks

INEC has announced that over 2.5 million Nigerians have successfully completed their online voter pre-registration since the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise kicked off on August 18, 2025.

According to the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, as of August 31, 2025, a total of 2,532,062 Nigerians had pre-registered online. Of this number, 1,218,482 (48.12%) are male, while 1,313,580 (51.88%) are female, with young people aged 18 to 34 making up the majority at 63.29%.

INEC further disclosed that 25.57% of the applicants are students, reflecting growing youth interest in the electoral process.

However, the commission emphasized that online pre-registration is only the first step and must be completed in person at designated centers to be considered valid.
