The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Lagos State Command, has officially handed over Obi Levi Obieze, a notorious crime suspect, to the Lagos State Police Command for further investigation.
Obieze, also known as Levi Obu Onyeka, was arrested on May 29, 2025, by immigration operatives at the Gbaji checkpoint along the Badagry-Seme Road as he attempted to flee the country on a motorcycle.
His arrest followed credible intelligence linking him to the abduction and ritual killing of a 13-year-old girl in Isiagu Community, Enugu State.
Confirming the handover, Lagos Police spokesperson CSP Benjamin Hundeyin stated via X:
“ONGOING: @nigimmigration, Lagos State Command hands over wanted suspect, Obi Levi Obieze, to @LagosPoliceNG at the Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja.”
According to a statement by NIS spokesperson ACI AS Akinlabi, Obieze is wanted by the Enugu State Police Command in connection with the crime, which occurred on May 27, 2025. The victim was abducted while walking to the farm with her father and was later rescued from a shrine allegedly tied to the suspect.
Obieze, a native doctor from Umuajor village in Enugu, reportedly confessed during initial questioning. His identity was confirmed through a National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) enrollment slip found in his possession.
The NIS noted that Comptroller General Kemi Nandap approved the immediate transfer of the suspect to police authorities for continued prosecution.
