Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has raised alarm over his deteriorating health while in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS). In a letter to the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), he listed tinnitus, hypertension, organ complications, and sleep deprivation as the gravest threats to his survival.
Kanu said tinnitus worsens his hypertension, heightening his risk of stroke, collapse, and sudden death. He accused DSS medical personnel of neglect and falsifying test results, alleging that his potassium levels were misrepresented despite symptoms such as fainting, chest pain, and recurring nosebleeds.
He further disclosed that his personal physician, Dr. Cfine, and Emeritus Professor Martin Aghaji had been repeatedly intimidated by DSS. According to him, their interventions had shown genuine signs of improvement, but continued restrictions and intimidation put his life in jeopardy.
