Veteran rapper Illbliss has voiced strong concerns over the mindset of today’s Nigerian youth, accusing the younger generation of glorifying mediocrity and indecision. Speaking on The Real Shareholders podcast, he lamented that serious issues are brushed aside under the guise of being “cool”, which he believes is enabling widespread moral and societal decay.
He highlighted how this cultural shift has made destructive habits like drug use and cybercrime more acceptable. Illbliss explained that many youths now justify harmful choices due to disillusionment with a system that offers them little to no support. “They feel the government has failed them, so they fend for themselves by any means necessary,” he said.
The rapper further painted a grim picture of life for young Nigerians, describing it as a mental battle against hopelessness and poverty. “It’s not just hard being a youth in Nigeria,” he stressed, “it’s hard being born here.” His comments have sparked widespread conversations on youth values, governance, and national accountability.
