Ika Progressive Union Abuja has honoured the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor and Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Transportation,Dr.(Mrs) Magdalene Ajani for distinguished service in the country.
The umbrella union of Ika Indegenes of Delta State who are resident in Abuja honoured the two distinguished personalities who are son and daughter of Ika land in an impressive End of Year Party .
Speaking at the occasion, Chairman of Ika Progressive Union, Abuja, QS Sunny Ijeh said the union will continue to honour excellent and support efforts to eradicate poverty in Ika land.
He said that the purpose of the union skillful acquisition is to equip members and Ika Indegenes “with skillful knowledge and make them self – employed where there are no other gainful employment. Our desire is to eradicate poverty among us.”
He said that series of lectures are line up by the union to achieve the said objectives and they are “open (that is free of charge ) to all Ika indegenes irrespective of whether they are our registered members or not”
The End of the year party was attended by several other dignitaries including the Head Collective leadership of Onu Ika Nigeria,Mr. Dan Usifor and his team from Agbor.
Ijeh appealed to Onu Ika Nigeria to liberalize the use of their specially designed traditional dress/wear to be the general culture attire of Ika people adding that it would give Ika people the much needed traditional dressing identity if approved.
