President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday received a delegation of leaders and chiefs from the South-East Zone of the country in audience.
The delegation comprising traditional and religious leaders of the Igbo extraction met President Buhari at the State House in Abuja.
It was not clear what the agenda of the meeting was. But the South -East Zone have been under siege by members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), whose leader Nnamdi Kanu is in custody undergoing treasonable felony trial in Abuja.
Though, IPOB and it’s activities are unlawful, its “stay at home order” is bafflingly being religiously obeyed in the South East Zone in a manner that it paralyzed both public and private activities every Monday.
The distinguished Igbo leaders in the delegation are individuals who can get the listening earns of the President and the leader of the proscribed group assuming the impasses were to be part of agenda.
Among the leaders were former Anambra State Governor, Chukwuemeka Ezeife who has attended trial in the three last adjourned dates; former Minister of Aviation, Mbazulike Amaechi; and Former President of Igbo think-tank group, Ikenga, Goddy Uwazurike.
Government officials at the meeting included the President’s Chief of Staff, Professor Ibrahim Gambari; Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Ogbonnaya Onu; and the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno
