I am happy Wike, Umahi did not win presidential tickets – Kwankwaso

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has stated that he’s happy the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) didn’t give its presidential ticket to Governor Nyesom Wike.

Kwankwaso who described Wike and the Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi as performers, said he’s also happy that Umahi also did not win the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket.

Recall that Wike was defeated by a former vice president, Atiku Abubakar in the presidential primary of PDP.

Umahi lost the presidential ticket of the ruling party to Bola Tinubu.

The former Governor of Kano State said the choice of candidates of the APC and PDP has given NNPP leverage to win the 2023 presidential election.

Kwankwaso stated this on Wednesday while addressing newsmen in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi capital.

The presidential candidate said, “Of course, I would be very happy that people like Dave here, people like my friend, Wike, and many others, I would have been very happy with them as [presidential candidates].

“But we didn’t want them as an opposition to go there, because we know these are people who have performed. You know that as an opposition, we want people who we can just easily walk on and win. And that is why we are so happy and comfortable now at the national level.

“So, we are so happy that the strong ones could not get or buy the tickets during the primary elections.”
