Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has condemned the derogatory remarks by some individuals who described his supporters as “street urchins” and “people of no value,” saying such statements reflect a disturbing disregard for ordinary Nigerians.
In a statement shared online, Obi said he has never looked down on anyone and that his political philosophy is rooted in humanity, inclusion, and compassion, not elitism.
He emphasized that his political journey has never been about mingling with the “high and mighty,” but about standing with ordinary Nigerians whose voices have been silenced and whose resources have been stolen.
Obi reiterated his commitment to ensuring that all Nigerians, regardless of class or background, have access to education, healthcare, and opportunities to rise out of poverty.
He concluded by reaffirming his vision for a nation built on dignity and equity, stating:
“A New Nigeria is POssible.”
