The Federal Government has vowed to rescue the students abducted from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State and reiterated its unwavering commitment to protecting the lives of Nigerians, especially schoolchildren. The tragic incident occurred in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area, where female students were kidnapped and school officials killed in a reprehensible attack.

In a statement issued on Monday, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, conveyed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s stance, assuring the nation that all security and intelligence agencies have been mobilized to locate and secure the release of the girls. The President emphasized that safeguarding citizens remains a “solemn responsibility” of his administration.

The government also announced ongoing efforts to boost national security through a comprehensive recalibration of military, intelligence, and policing frameworks. Nigeria is similarly strengthening its collaboration with ECOWAS, the African Union, and the Multinational Joint Task Force to counter cross-border terrorist activities and criminal networks.
