The new Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola was born in August 22,1954 contrary to erroneous speculations that he was born in 1958.
Justice Ariwoola resume released yesterday by the Supreme Court indicated that the new CJN who was born at Elewuetu Compound ,Oke Ola ,Iseyin ,Iseyin Local Government in Oke Ogun Area of Oyo State of Nigeria begun working as a teacher.
His permanent resident address is Joycrown House ,No 9, Oak Street,Alalubosa GRA Iyaganku Area, Ibadan ,Oyo State Nigeria.
His religion is Islam and he had his elementary school education at Local Authority Demonstration Primary School, Oluwole, Iseyin, between 1959 and 1966 and proceeded to Muslim Modern School, Oke Oremoje, Saki Road, Iseyin, between 1967 and 1969.
Justice Ariwoola had his secondary education at Ansar ud-Deen High School, Afotee, Sanngo, Saki between 1970 and 1974 and Obokun Advance Studies, Ilesa, between 1975 and 1976.
He read law at University of Ife, (now Obafemi Awolowo University,) IleIfe, between 1977 and 1980, and went to Nigeria Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos between 1980 and 1981. He was called to Bar in July 1981.
His working experience span over six decades and begun as a teacher at Ansar-ud-Deen Society Primary School, Atori, lseyin in1974. He also taught at Baptist Secondary Modern School, Otu, between 1976 and 1977.
His judicial career begun as a State Counsel ,Ministry of Justice, Akure, Ondo State, 1981 — 1982 when he served the compulsory National Youth Service.
Between 1982 — 1988, Ariwoola worked as Legal Officer, Ministry of Justice, Ibadan, Oyo State Civil Service.He was also past-time teacher at the Civil Service Training School, (now Simeon Adabo).Secretariat, ibadan. 1984 — 1928, and Part-time teaching, Extra Moral (Advance Level) Studies, Faculty of Education, University of Ibadan between 1984 and 1988.
The new CJN also taught Part-time at Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration, the Polytechnic, Ibadan between 1989 and 1992.
He went into Private Legal Practice as Counsel in the Chambers, Chief Ladosu Ladipo, SAN & CO. Legal Practitioners – Bodija, Ibadan. October, 1988 to August, 1989.
He became Principal Partner, Olu Ariwoola & Co. Mako Allah Chambers, Solicitors & Advocates, No, 1, Iseyin Road, Owode, Oyo in 1989 till 1992 when he was appointed a Judge of the High Court of Justice, Oyo State Judiciary, Ibadan.
He served as a judge till 2005, and was appointed Justice of Court of Appeal, Nigeria. He elevated Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in November 2011.

As Justice of Court of Appeal, he served in Kaduna Division — November 2005 — March, Enugu Division ~ March, 2008 — September 2010 and Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal September 2010 to Nov. 2011 .
Justice Ariwoola is on record as the First OAU product to get to the Court of Appeal from Oyo State. The most Senior Serving Judicial Officer from Oyo State as at 2012. and the First and only Oke Ogun Indigene of Oyo State to get to the Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
He is married to former Miss Adewumi Tititayo Adejumo (Now Mrs Ariwoola) and blessed with Children.
