Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has officially retired the iconic No.5 jersey worn by late Super Eagles and Rangers International captain, Christian Chukwu, as a mark of eternal respect. The ceremony celebrated Chukwu’s immense contribution to Nigerian football, both as a player and coach.
Mbah announced welfare support packages for 109 former Rangers players, acknowledging their sacrifices in building the club’s rich history. He emphasised that the gesture was part of a broader plan to ensure ex-players receive proper recognition and assistance.
The governor also pledged to collaborate with the Federal Government to further immortalise Chukwu, describing him as “a national treasure whose leadership on and off the pitch inspired generations.”
