The Community Court of Justice, ECOWAS organised a three-day technical workshop of Focal Points of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (PME) to promote the culture of planning, programming, monitoring and evaluation, towards the effective and efficient achievement of the objectives of the Court. Focal Points made presentation on their mandates, objectives, processes and procedures for identification of areas of collaboration, and proposed initiatives to further deepen the culture of Result Based Management in the ECOWAS Court.
In his remarks, Dr Olalekan Afolabi, Head of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Division of the Court, welcomed the Focal Points, on behalf of the Honourable President of the Court, Justice Edward Amoako Asante. He highlighted the objectives of the workshop to include proposing performance measurement framework for the Court for effective monitoring and reporting of Court performance, as well as, agreeing on data collection methodologies for the defined indicators of the Court.
He expressed the gratitude of the President of the Court to the Focal Points for their dedication and contribution to the attainment of the objectives of the Court and encouraged participants to bring their valuable expertise to bare in the development of the overall planning, monitoring and evaluation framework of the Court.
Dr Yaouza Ouro-Sama, Chief Registrar of the Court who was represented by Mr. Yusuf Danmadami, noted that the workshop is designed to proffers ways of improving the performance of the Court by refining the Court’s performance measurement framework, and providing participants with the opportunity for knowledge sharing, skills development and networking. He noted that the ability to plan strategically, monitor progress effectively and evaluate outcomes objectively is paramount to the success of an institution as ours. He believed that this workshop provides a platform for the Court to align its practices with best standards in programme management and organizational effectiveness.
The workshop which was held from July 29th – 31st, 2024, had in attendance Focal Points of divisions and units of the Court and was facilitated by the Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Division of the Court.
