DSS Arrests Edo-Based Activist, Five Others Over Planned Rally For Burkina Faso’s Leader Ibrahim Traoré

The Department of State Services (DSS) has reportedly arrested an Edo-based activist and five others over an alleged plot to stage a solidarity rally in support of Burkina Faso’s military leader, Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

Sources said the planned demonstration, deemed a potential threat to national security, was set to take place in Benin City, Edo State. The DSS viewed the activity as capable of inciting unrest and undermining Nigeria’s internal security protocols.

The detainees are currently being held for interrogation over suspected affiliations with foreign revolutionary movements and for attempting to hold a rally without legal authorization.

Authorities have yet to release an official statement, but intelligence reports indicate that Nigeria’s security agencies are increasingly cautious of foreign ideological influences potentially stirring unrest within the country.
