The Coalition of United Political Parties,CUPP, has condemned the attack and arson against the country home of Barrister Ikenga Ugochinyere in Imo State on Saturday, January 14,2023 as barbaric and a show of cowardice.

The Conference described the attack in a statement signed High Chief Peter Ojonugwa Ameh National Secretary, CUPP “one attack too many sponsored against the person of Chief IKENGA UGOCHINYERE in a bid to silence his voice and stance on critical national issues, particularly on democracy and the forthcoming 2023 general election.”

“This attack as disguised as it is, points hand however to some well known anti democratic forces within the country and their arrow head in Imo State,”

“It is more worrisome that such a mindless attack is coming at a time that the whole world has moved to an era of politics of engagement and contest of ideas,

So sad, “that some supposed leaders and their minions will descend so low to the point of bringing such a homongous magnitude of destruction of properties to an individual just for the single reason that he holds a different political beliefs and stance from theirs is hugely unfortunate, sad and unfathomable.”

“The leadership of CUPP and all persons of good will, conscience and Patriots in Nigeria condemn this attack in all of its ramifications and call on the security agencies to rise to the occasion to fish out the perpetrators of this dastardly acts.

“We call on the government of President Muhammad Buhari, the Inspector General of Police and other relevant persons to ensure that nothing is left undone in their efforts to unravel the doers of these grave evil.

CUPP empathized with Chief Barrister IKENGA UGOCHINYERE and members of his household who are gravely affected by this callous and unreasonable act and admonish them to take solace in the fact that they suffered the attack on accounts of their stance with truth and democracy, knowing too well that the triumph of evil over good can only be temporary.

Earlier on Saturday the National Co-Spokesman for the Coalition of United Political Parties, Comrade Mark Adebayo has raised a passionate SOS claiming that his colleague’s house is surrounded and being shot at while he and his supporters are under serious gun attacks.

Ikenga is PDP’s House of Representatives Candidate for Ideato Federal Constituency of Imo state.
Mark claims that he has received several 🆘 text messages from his colleague and calling on all security agencies to rise in protection of his colleague.

“I have received disturbing texts from my colleague, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, that he and his supporters are under attack and his house being shot into and about to be set ablaze.

“Nigerians would remember that an aide to the incumbent Imo state governor recently threatened Ikenga for which the latter raised alarm about his safety.

“One would have expected the Police authorities to invite the persons involved and thorough investigation carried out with a view to arresting and prosecuting the culprit but nothing like that has happened. As I speak, I can’t reach my colleague again after sending those desperate 🆘 messages “

” Should anything happen to Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, we shall hold the Imo state governor and his aides responsible for it. I’m immediately filing an official petition with the international community on this dastardly development which I condemn in its entirety and I call on the IGP to send in his men to rescue my colleague and his people immediately. Every second counts now”, Adebayo said.
