Court sentenced fake surety headmaster for giving false information

An assistant headmaster at Goron Dutse Primary School in Dala Local Government of Kano State Umar Hassan has been jailed for giving  fake information as surety in a case involving a suspected fraudster .

Justice Zuwaira Yusuf of the Kano State High Court on Friday, August 20, 2021 sentenced  Umar Hassan to six months imprisonment for presenting false information.

The convicts had on December 13th, 2017, in Kano misled operatives of the Kano Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, into granting bail to one Abdulkadir Mohammed Sani – a suspect in a criminal case being investigated by the agency for alleged offences of obtaining by false pretence and forgery.

Abdulkadir Mohammed Sani later jump bail and Umar failed to produce him.

Umar case became worse when it was discovered by EFCC that all the information he gave, including the claim of being a brother to the suspect, were false.

The offence committed by the convict was contrary to “Section 39 (2)(a) and Punishable under Section 39 (2)(b) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Act, 2004”.
