Court remands Buhari over N7.5m land deal

Nigeria Police on Thursday remanded one Mohammed Buhari, no relation with President Muhammadu Buhari in prison custody in Suleja ,Niger State.

Buhari was arraigned before the Federal Capital Territory High Court.presided over by Justice Halilu Yusuf for falsely selling and receiving N7.5million for a parcel of land.

Buhari was arraigned on one-count charge dated June 15, which borders on collection of money by false pretence in respect of a land.

After taking his plea, Chukwudi Oli counsel for the defendant/applicant informed the court of his client’s bail application.

Reacting, Aishatu Ibrahim, counsel for the complainant raised objection, informing the court that she was served with the bail application inside court.

The complainant lawyer told the court that she will join issues with the defence lawyer over the bail application.

In a short ruling, the presiding judge, Yusuf ordered the remand of the defendant in Suleja prison pending the hearing of Buhari’s bail application on October 5.
