The Court of Appeal sitting in Ibadan has struck down the 2019 suspension of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) by Oyo State, ruling that Governor Seyi Makinde’s action was unlawful.
In a unanimous judgment, the three-judge panel held that the state failed to provide evidence of any misconduct or breach of peace by NURTW to justify the ban.
The court vacated the earlier decision by the National Industrial Court and restored the union’s rights.
