A Federal Capital Territory High Court has ruled that the testimony of three subpoenaed witnesses in the ongoing trial of former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele must wait until the Court of Appeal decides on their eligibility.
Emefiele is standing trial on a 20-count amended charge filed by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, bordering on abuse of office, criminal breach of trust, corruption and fraud.
At Thursday’s hearing, prosecuting counsel Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN) sought to call the witnesses, but Justice Hamza Muazu held that the court could not reverse itself while the matter was already before the appellate court.
Justice Muazu said the names of the witnesses were part of additional evidence earlier struck out on March 20—a ruling now under appeal.
The case has been adjourned to January 29, 2026, for continuation of hearing.
