The Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla has assured that Nigerian Navy will provide adequate accommodation to boost NN personnel welfare.
A statement by Naval spokesperson Commodore A Adams–Aliu stated that CNS made the promise during the multiple commissioning of several facilities at Ebubu-Eleme and Borokiri in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Wednesday , December 12, 2024 as part of the ongoing Nigerian Navy End of Year activities.
“We are rehabilitating and bringing back abandoned accommodations to become useful for us because we have a very serious challenge of inadequate accommodation. We have put a lot of our resources to make sure that whichever one we can do is done properly, in addition to the new ones that we are building in Port Harcourt and other areas.”
CNS reassured his officers & men that their welfare was his topmost priority. He reiterated that the Nigerian Navy is committed to prioritizing the welfare of its officers and ratings by ensuring they have access to decent and secure accommodations.
This is in line with the Chief of the Naval Staff Strategic Directives to promote welfare and morale of the Nigerian Navy personnel to ensure a happy homogenous, willing and ready Naval Force. The facilities commissioned include:
a. Parade Ground and Pavilion.
b. Junior Rates’ Mess.
c. Senior Rates’ Mess.
d. Headquarters Naval Training Command Officers’ Mess.
e. 2xRatings Accommodation Blocks of 47xRooms each.
f. One Block of 56x 1 Bedroom Flat Apartments.
