Bishop Kukah Lauds Kaduna Governor’s Peace Efforts, Seeks Continued Support

The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, has praised Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for his ongoing efforts in fostering peace and stability across the state.

Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Governor at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House in Kaduna on Tuesday evening, Bishop Kukah commended the governor’s proactive leadership in managing security challenges and promoting unity in a state historically affected by ethno-religious tensions.

“Kaduna is a very strategic state in Nigeria — politically, economically, and socially. The work being done here to stabilise and unite the people deserves recognition and support,” Kukah stated.

The bishop also expressed deep appreciation for the governor’s support for Veritas University, describing the gesture as a testament to Uba Sani’s commitment to education and human development.

In response, Governor Sani reiterated his administration’s dedication to inclusive governance and peaceful coexistence. He acknowledged the role religious leaders like Bishop Kukah play in promoting dialogue, tolerance, and national cohesion.

“Our administration is people-centered. We are focused on building trust, strengthening security, and creating opportunities for every citizen,” the governor said.

The visit ended with a call from Bishop Kukah for more support from stakeholders — both local and international — to sustain the progress being made in Kaduna and across northern Nigeria.
