The Police in Bauchi State have arrested a 70-year old man, Alhaji Umaru Daura, over allegations of raping a seven-year old daughter of his neighbour.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Zone 12 Headquarters, Bauchi, Thomas Goni, a Superintendent of Police, in a statement made available to journalists in Bauchi on Tuesday.
According to him, the suspect who is a resident of Kawo Rauta village in Toro Local Government Area of the state, was arrested by Police detectives attached to the Zone.
Goni said: “A 70-year old man, Alhaji Umaru Daura, has been arrested by detectives Attached to Zone 12 Police Headquarters Bauchi for defiling a neighbor’s daughter aged 7.
“The incident happened in Kawo Rauta Village Toro Local Government Bauchi state.
“The father of the victim, Alhaji Habu, who reported the case to the Police said the suspect was caught red handed.”
He said that the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 12, Bauchi, AIG Audu Madaki, directed that the suspect be charged to Court after investigations were concluded.
