Hon. Justice I . M. Njaka of Imo State High Court has advised new lawyers to avoid writing petition against judges.
He gave the advice in Abuja at a Call – to – Bar reception held in honour of Barrister Ogemdi Chukwuemeka Ume the son of former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Imo State Chukwuma -Machukwu Ume, SAN.
Justice Njaka enjoined the new lawyer to always be on top of the cases he is handling, with clear understanding of the facts and laws surrounding such cases and to precisely present them before the court.
He said that in his 15 years of legal practices at Chukwuma -Machukwu Ume SAN Chamber, before he was appointed to the bench ,”they ever write any petition against any judge.”
Also speaking at the reception, the chairman of the ceremony, Hon Justice S U Oriji of the High Court of Federal Capital Territory appealed to new lawyers to help in the fight against corruption wherever they find themselves.
He commended Ume family for the upbringing of Ogemdi and congratulated Ogemdi , He added that he was lucky to have been so honoured by many guests as many of his age mates have not yet made it.
Ogemdi a successful graduate of the Nigerian Law School was among those called -to- Bar on Thursday, July 10, during an impressive Call -to- Bar Ceremony held in conjunction with Body of Benchers.
Ume family hosted their son, the new wig Ogemdi Chukwuma Ume, whose mother Mrs Ume is also a lawyer, to a well attended reception organised in honour of Ogemdi.
Earlier, in his remark while introducing Ogemdi, his father Chukwuma -Machukwu Ume, SAN, said his son is an inspiration .He said that he had learnt little things that matters from his son.
