Atletico Madrid has announced the passing of club legend Enrique Collar at the age of 91.
The iconic left winger was a defining figure for the club in the 1950s and 1960s, captaining the team to a La Liga title, three Copa del Rey trophies, and a European Cup Winners’ Cup during his illustrious career.
Collar made 470 appearances and scored 105 goals for the Red and Whites between 1953 and 1969, and served as captain for a decade — longer than any other player in the club’s history. He is remembered as a symbol of dedication and excellence for Atletico and Spanish football.
Atleti’s official statement paid tribute to his huge contribution and extended condolences to his family and fans around the world.
