ASUU Strike: NLC Convenes Emergency Meeting as Ultimatum Expires

The Nigeria Labour Congress has announced that its leadership organs will meet to determine the next line of action after its one-month ultimatum to the Federal Government expired on Friday. Acting Secretary-General Benson Upah confirmed the development, noting that the NLC remains committed to restoring stability across universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.

Upah emphasised that the Congress is aligned with unions in the tertiary education sector and will take decisions that reflect its commitment to resolving the prolonged academic crisis. He assured that the public will be formally updated once a resolution is reached.

The ultimatum, issued a month earlier, demanded concrete government action to end disruptions in tertiary institutions. With rising tensions and national insecurity adding pressure, stakeholders await the NLC’s next steps.
