Arraignment: Ex Gov Yahaya Bello control noisy crowd as judge walks out in anger

Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, who is facing an 16 count charge before FCT High Court for alleged misappropriation of the sum of N110.2 bn on Wednesday took over crowd control as judge angrily left the court room.

Justice Maryann Anenih left the crowded court room as noise from a large supporters of the defendants that extended to the corridor became unbearable, thus putting Bello’s arraignment on hold for a while.

Justice Anenih, who was supposed to ask the defendants to take plea , abruptly rose and announced she would not return until there was sanity in the courtroom.

Shortly after the judge left, Yahaya Bello, who had been sitting in the front of the courtroom, jumped up and moved toward the surging crowd.

He immediately directed his followers and sympathisers to vacate their seats and leave the courtroom.

His actions helped put the surging crowd under control and douse the tension, as his followers left the courtroom one after another without resistance.

To ensure order, the former governor sat at the entrance of the courtroom and made sure none of his followers disobeyed the court’s order.

All his aides and followers patiently obeyed his instructions and exited the court one by one.

Meanwhile, Kemi Pinheiro SAN is leading the federal government’s legal team for the arraignment, while Joseph Bodunde Dauda SAN is leading the legal team for the former governor in the 16-count charges.
