The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the just-concluded chairmanship elections in Epe, Eredo, and Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Areas held on Saturday, July 12, 2025.
The official announcements were made late Saturday night, around 11:55 p.m., at the local government secretariats by the respective returning officers. The elections were part of the larger council polls conducted across Lagos State, with voter turnout reported to be relatively low amid tight security and movement restrictions imposed by the police between 6:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
In Epe, Prof. Habeeb Sanni declared APC’s Ms. Surah Animashaun winner with 34,819 votes, ahead of the PDP’s 1,535 and Labour Party’s 675. In Eredo LCDA, Dr. Afolabi Onasanya announced APC’s Mr. Monsuru Akinloye as winner with 25,017 votes, while the PDP scored 424. At Ibeju-Lekki, Mr. Bankole Oduntan confirmed APC’s Mr. Bankole Oduntan won with 59,342 votes, far ahead of PDP’s 740 and LP’s 45.
Observers say the results further cement APC’s political dominance at the grassroots level in Lagos, even as opposition parties criticized the process, citing low engagement and logistical challenges.
