In response to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive, Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State, alongside key security leaders, visited Yelewata on Monday to evaluate the security situation. The high-powered delegation included the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
The visit was part of a broader security assessment mission ahead of President Tinubu’s scheduled tour of the state. Yelewata, a border community often affected by security concerns, was specifically chosen due to its strategic significance and recent reports of unrest.
Governor Alia reiterated his administration’s commitment to peace and development, assuring residents that necessary steps were being taken to secure their communities and ensure a smooth and successful presidential visit.
