Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has approved a new monthly allowance of N20,000 for all National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state. This is a significant increase from the previous N5,000 and will take effect from August 1, 2025.
With this development, corps members in Akwa Ibom will now earn a combined N97,000 monthly, including the federal NYSC stipend of N77,000. The governor said the decision was aimed at improving the welfare of over 10,000 corps members posted to the state annually.
Governor Eno also disclosed that the state government has approved the reconstruction of the NYSC orientation camp in Nsit Atai Local Government Area to further support the well-being of serving corps members.
