Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, alongside former governors Olusegun Mimiko and Gbenga Daniel, honored Pa Reuben Fasoranti, the leader of the Pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group Afenifere, on his 99th birthday.
The celebration featured the second edition of the Chief Reuben Fasoranti Public Lecture in Akure, organized by the University of Ibadan Alumni Association, Ondo State Chapter. Governor Aiyedatiwa lauded Pa Fasoranti as a “champion of Yoruba culture and values,” highlighting his embodiment of the Omoluabi ethos and his unwavering commitment to service, courage, and cultural preservation.
Former Governor Mimiko praised Fasoranti’s modesty and integrity, noting his significant contributions as a former commissioner for finance and his respected status as a leader among the Yoruba people.
Otunba Gbenga Daniel emphasized the need for unity among the Yoruba to revive diminishing cultural values. He described Fasoranti as an undisputed leader who exemplifies honesty, wisdom, and responsibility, advocating for a cultural renaissance through education and community engagement.
The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye; the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi; and representatives from the University of Ibadan, all paying tribute to Fasoranti’s enduring legacy and leadership.
