Again, herdsmen kill 50 in Benue

Herdsmen have killed no fewer than 50 people in Mgban, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

The people were killed by the herdsmen while taking refuge at a primary school in Mgban at about 10 p.m. on Friday, April 7.

Speaking on the incident, the Chairman of Guma Local Government Area, Mike Aba, said 34 bodies were evacuated from the classrooms where the residents were taking refuge.

Aba, who spoke through the security officer of the local government, Christopher Waku, said another 16 corpses were picked on the road.

The incident was confirmed by the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene.

The latest attack is coming barely two days after gunmen killed 51 people at Umogidi in Otukpo LGA of Benue State.

President Muhammadu Buhari had condemned the killings and directed the security agencies to beef up security in the area .

Meanwhile the Benue State government has strongly condemned the unprovoked attacks and called on residents to defend themselves.
