AEDC Announces Power Outage in Abuja, Cites Maintenance Work

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced a planned power outage in parts of Abuja scheduled for Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.

In a statement posted on X, AEDC attributed the disruption to a maintenance exercise by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on the 60MVA TR1 (3KUB-TR1) transformer at the 132/33kV Kubwa Transmission Substation.

Areas expected to be affected include Dawaki, Duste, Bwari, Kubwa, and Deidei and their surrounding environments.

“This is to inform customers in Dawaki, Duste, Bwari, Kubwa, Deidei, and environs that the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) will be conducting a maintenance exercise on the 60MVA-TR1 (3KUB-TR1) 132/33kV Kubwa TS. This maintenance will commence on Saturday, January 11, 2025, between 10 am and 3 pm,” AEDC said in the statement.

The Disco had earlier announced a separate two-week power outage that began on Monday, January 6, 2025, leaving some electricity customers in the capital city expressing dissatisfaction with the frequent disruptions.
