The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Olufemi Oluyede, has emphasized that the morale of military personnel is significantly enhanced when their welfare is prioritized. He made the call on Monday, August 4, 2025, while addressing officers during an operational briefing in Abuja.
According to Oluyede, adequate welfare packages — including proper accommodation, medical care, timely payment of entitlements, and family support services — are vital to maintaining high levels of motivation and operational efficiency among soldiers. He stressed that a well-catered force is a more disciplined, focused, and battle-ready force.
The Army Chief further assured personnel that under his leadership, welfare would remain a cornerstone of military reforms and modernization efforts, aimed at tackling insecurity and defending Nigeria’s territorial integrity.
