Abdullahi son of Nigeria’s late dictator, Gen. Sani Abacha, is dead

Abdullahi Sani Abacha the son of Nigeria’s former dictator, the late General Sani Abacha, is dead.

Abdullahi reportedly died in his sleep at the family’s palatial, luxury residence at Nelson Mandela Street, Abuja, in the early hours of Saturday.

His sister, Fatimah Gumsu Abacha-Buni, who is the First Lady of Yobe State, announced this on Saturday via her verified Instagram page.

She wrote: “Innalillahi wa inna ilahi rajiun (Surely, we belong to Allah and verily to Him do we return). I lost my younger brother Abdullahi Sani Abacha. He died in his sleep.

“May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him jannatul firdaos (paradise), Ameen. Please include him in your prayers”.

She said prayers would be held at the National Mosque in Abuja at 4 p.m. on Saturday for the repose of his soul.

The deceased was one of the nine children the former Head of State, who ruled from 1994 to 1998, had from his wife, Maryam.
