Abacha’s failed Bank Tribunal Chairman, Justice Idajili passes on at 82

The chairman of the defunct Failed Bank Tribunal set up by the government of late General Sani Abacha, Hon. Justice Steven Sado Idajili, has passed on at the age of 82.

The jurist who hailed from Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State became notable as a result of his involvement in the then dreaded failed bank tribunal that sent several bank executives into detention.

Justice Idajili was also part of a seven -man panel set up by the then Kogi State Chief Judge, Justice Nasir Ajanah to investigate the allegation of gross misconduct against the then State Deputy Governor, Elder Simon Achuba which led to his impeachment.

He was the chairman of Grievance Redress Committee (GRC) set up by the Kogi State project coordinator of the agro processing productivity enhancement and livelihood improvement support project.

Until his death he was the secretary of the Kogi State retired judges association.

A statement by the family, signed by Francis Idajili, said Christian Wake would holds Wednesday, June 12, at Lokoja and interment on Thursday at Efakwu Egume in Dekina local government Area of Kogi State.

The statement added that a Valedictory Court Session will be held on Thursday 13, at the Chief Judge’s Chambers, High Court of Justice, Lokoja.
