The National Judicial Institute (NJI) has assured Nigerians that the judiciary will not disappoint in its role as a strategic partner in advancing climate action and sustainable development.
The Administrator of the NJI, Justice B.A. Adejumo (rtd) made the pledge in a goodwill message he delivered on behalf of the Nigerian Judiciary when the Climate Change Awareness Tour Programme organized by the Climate Change Office of the Presidency paid a courtesy visit .

The Administrator said that globally, the legal and judicial community increasingly recognizes that climate change impacts fundamental rights, public accountability, intergenerational equity, and sustainable development.
Justice Adejumo reiterated that the role of the courts is both significant and evolving, noting that climate-related disputes are central to climate governance.
He assured that the Nigerian Judiciary would not fail Nigerians in addressing these pressing issues.
He further highlighted the importance of the NJI in judicial capacity building, stressing that the Institute is vital in equipping judicial officers to address emerging environmental and climate-related challenges.
According to him, climate change programmes provide valuable platforms to deepen collaboration among institutions and stakeholders, thereby strengthening Nigeria’s collective response to climate risks and opportunities.
