The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Wednesday commenced its planned protest in Lagos over worsening insecurity across the country, even after a lateโnight meeting between its leadership and President Bola Tinubu aimed at averting nationwide demonstrations.
President Tinubu held talks with NLC leaders on Tuesday night in Abuja in an effort to discuss the proposed protests and government responses.
Protesters were seen marching with placards at strategic locations in Lagos, calling for urgent government action to address killings, kidnappings, and other security challenges affecting citizens.
The demonstration forms part of a nationwide protest scheduled for December 17, 2025, initiated by the NLC to press for decisive solutions to the nationโs insecurity.
The NLC has maintained that the protests will continue until concrete steps are taken to guarantee the safety of Nigerians and restore public confidence in security arrangements.
