Minister of Power Bayo Adelabu has accused Primate Elijah Ayodele of attempting to extort N150 million from him under the guise of spiritual support for his 2027 governorship bid. In a petition to the DSS, Adelabu claims the cleric demanded money and costly ritual items as conditions for “divine intervention.”
According to documents and text messages reviewed by TheCable, Ayodele allegedly requested 24 APC flags and 1,000 saxophones or trumpets valued between N50 million and N130 million, insisting they were “instructions from God.” Adelabu reportedly refused, saying he could not meet the demands.
Following Adelabu’s refusal, Ayodele publicly declared that the minister would fail in the election, portraying his statements as prophetic warnings. Adelabu says this amounted to spiritual blackmail aimed at damaging his reputation and manipulating the political process.
